IDC's India Directions 2011 (New Delhi)
    "Emerging Paradigms: Technologies & Markets"
    Directions
    June 17, 2011
    The Lalit, New Delhi, India
    Introduction

    “Emerging” is the new “normal''.

Within the technology and telecommunications industries, emerging markets are the order of the day.

    These take several avatars:

    • For the Indian IT Services companies, emerging markets are Africa, APAC, the Middle East and LATAM. Investments to expand businesses, organically and otherwise, are pouring in.
    • Within India, Tier II and III cities are the emerging markets for the technology sector. Whether directly, or through channel partners, companies are visibly upping their presence in these geographies.
    • For the telcos, emerging markets are altogether different: the migration of revenue from voice to data and applications is accelerating. Their ‘emerging markets’ are Enterprise Services, VAS and App Stores! The race to build viable 3G (and 4G) businesses is on.

From an end-user perspective, emerging is the new normal too. They have been through the evolution triggered by roll-outs of Accounting Systems, followed by ERP and Supply Chain systems with the cycle logically culminating in the deployment of increasingly sophisticated CRM platforms. Now, evolved end-user organizations are testing and deploying systems and applications based upon ‘emerging’ themes such as Cloud Computing, technologies that enabled Web 2.0, ultra fast networks and storage area networks.

IDC Directions 2011 is about the new normal. The event focuses on what the ICT vendor community and the End User community have to do differently to win in the new normal. Analysts and Subject Matter Experts from IDC’s global practices will present their research and conclusions in this respect.

Recognizing the importance of this sector to our clients, analysts from the Financial Insights practice will talk about how emerging technologies are impacting IT at banks, insurance companies and other financial services players.

IDC India is also excited to have two senior CIOs, from the Financial Services and Infrastructure sectors, presenting about their experiences in deploying processes, systems and applications which leverage emerging technologies and what business impact these had.

Directions 2011 Breakout Sessions will provide you with a broader and deeper dive into our research covered in these areas:

Track 1 – India Domestic- Software & Services, Telecom & Infrastructure
Track 2 – Opportunities in Emerging Markets- China, Middle East & Africa and Australia & New Zealand
